Mini-splits solve a specific problem: you have a room or an area that the existing ducts cannot reach or comfortably condition. A converted garage. An ADU. A master bedroom on the second floor that bakes in the afternoon. Adding a mini-split is faster, cleaner, and usually cheaper than extending ductwork.
We install Mitsubishi, Daikin, and Fujitsu. Single-zone systems run from one outdoor unit to one indoor head. Multi-zone systems (one outdoor unit, multiple indoor heads) make sense for whole-home setups in older houses without ducts, or for additions. We will walk through the trade-offs and pick the configuration that actually fits your situation.
Install is typically one to two days. The outdoor unit goes on a pad or wall bracket. The line set runs through a discreet 3-inch hole in the wall, hidden inside a paintable line cover. The indoor head is installed level, charged correctly, and commissioned. The result: 22+ SEER cooling, near-silent operation, and a remote that works.
Common cost question: a single-zone install in San Diego runs $4,500 to $7,500 depending on the head size and complexity. We give you a flat number after the in-home estimate. Tax credits and rebates apply to qualifying high-SEER heat pump systems.
